Sir Elton John has reacted to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to quit their senior royal duties.
The legendary English singer who is close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said their announcement that has rocked the royal family ‘came as a surprise to him,’ the spokesperson added.
‘Elton speaks to Harry and Meghan every day. He’s an inspiration, an almost ‘motherly’ figure,’ a royal insider told the Mirror.
‘He is a constant support, especially to Meghan, and is very protective of them both,’ they added.
While a source close to Sir Elton added: ‘He has been their rock. So while he would never tell them what to do he has been a listening ear and support throughout.’
Last week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their decision to quit the royal family after several months of reflection and internal discussions that will enable them work to become financially independent and split their time between Britain and Canada, the North American country.
