In many places around the world, the topic of sexual intercourse might be one that elder ones find uncomfortable talking to the young ones about. Thanks to sexual education, however, teenagers have some of their burning questions answered.
Teaching young people about sęx as well as how to go about it is, however, much more explicit on the island of Mangaia. Mangaia is located in the South Pacific Oceans.
Mangaian boys start masturbating at the age of 8 or 9. When they turn 13, they must participate in a weird ritual. Elders will perform surgery on the young boy’s penis and then will practically teach him about sęx by having sęx with him.
These so-called “elders” are considered experts in operating on the penis even though this process is quite terrible and highly risky. After two weeks, the boy will have sexual intercourse with older women who already have enough experience in the field of sęx.
The aim of this, however, is not just for pleasure. These Mangaian elder women hold the future of the boys in view during the sexual act. The women teach the boys how to have sęx with the goal that that piece of information will help him in the future.
Young men and women on the island are encouraged to have many sexual experiences with many other people before they find their future spouse. After this, they go on having sęx with their partners at least once a week until they virtually are unable to do so anymore.
When they are much younger, male and female children play together until they are 3 or 4 years old and then they are separated and not allowed to be in public together.
This separation continues into adulthood where not even brothers and sisters or husbands and wives can walk down the street together. Even though they have intimate lives in the privacy of their own homes, men and women do not converse in public.
Mangaian teenage boys have their penises cut at 13 and the person who carries out the superincision (cutting off the foreskin), will also serve as the boy’s educator for sęx and will arrange for older women to sleep with the boy.
