Dineo Ranaka schools her social media followers about depression.
Over a couple of weeks ago, the radio presenter revealed that she’s no longer suicidal but diagnosed with Severe Chronic Depression.
Taking to Instagram, Dineo spoke about depression and further revealed that hers’ is triggered by Temporal Lobe Epilepsy, which she’s been living with since her mid-twenties.
Temporal Lobe Epilepsy is having seizures while sleeping and the star says she fears she might never wake up.
Dineo Ranaka further explained to her followers that depression is not the feeling of sadness but an absence of vitality.
She’s taken it upon herself to do research and concluded that depression is a neurological problem.
“We need to start considering that depression is a neurological condition. It’s not just a mental illness or mental condition,” she wrote.
“… depression can be triggered by existing conditions. I believe my depression is triggered by my temporal lobe epilepsy,” she added.
It is Dineo’s desire to help people understand what depression is truly all about.
