A morbid website is predicting 2017 will be just as bad as last year for celebrity deaths – and has named 50 famous faces who it expects to die at some point over the next 12 months. Bruce Forsyth, Vera Lynn and even the Queen and Prince Philip are named on The Death List 2017.
Another famous Brit, Dave Prowse, who played Darth Vader in Star Wars, and moved to Carlyle Road, in Addiscombe, in 2000, is also on the list.
It picks celebrities, world leaders and members of royal families who it predicts will pass away at some point in 2017.
The website also predicts that Robert Mugabe, Desmond Tutu, Hugh Hefner and George Bush Snr will be among the well-known faces to die this year.
Among much-loved British celebs on the list are actor Leslie Phillips, TV host Dennis Norden and Last Of The Summer Wine star Peter Sallis.
The site seems to have picked its list based on celebrities who are either in their nineties or known to be suffering from ill health, The Croydon Advertiser reports.
The website picks 50 celebrities each year that it thinks will die before the year is out – and then lets its followers know whenever it has made a correct prediction.
Explaining its “rules”, the website states: “Candidates must be famous enough such that their death is expected to be reported by the UK media.
“Candidates cannot be famous solely for the fact they are likely to die in the near future and only 25 candidates can reappear from the previous year’s list.
“2016 was billed as the year of the celebrity death by some and, although DeathList 2016 started strongly, it hit a very lean period from June to November and ended with a final score of 12, two below the all time record of 14.
“Has the big celebrity clear-out of 2016 made the task more challenging for 2017 or will the rate of celebrity deaths continue apace? Only time will tell.”
In 2016 the 12 celebrity death’s the website correctly predicted included socialite Zsa Zsa Gabor, Royle Family actress Liz Smith and former Cuban leader Fidel Castro.
