A Twitter has stirred up a conversation on the meaning of “aboki” when used by a non-Hausa person on a northerner.
According to @DrMooh_, a non-Hausa person using “aboki” on a northerner equals a white person using “nigger” on a black person.
He tweeted;
“Aboki” by a non-Hausa person = “Nigger” by a White person. Let’s be guided.
Political analyst and opinion contributor, Gimba Kakanda also stated that “aboki is a caricature” in Nigerian movies and music.
Chocolate City CEO, Audu Maikori also recalled how he dealt with someone who used “aboki and mallam” derogatively on him during his days at Kings College.
