Two men will appear in court on Wednesday after they were caught trafficking drugs.
The two men in their forties were caught allegedly transporting an “assortment of illegal drugs” which is valued to worth over R2m.
They were transporting the drugs from a storage facility in Cape Town.
The duo aged 44 and 41 will appear in the Philippi magistrate’s court on drug dealing charges on Wednesday.
According to Hawks spokesperson Zinzi Hani, the two were nabbed after the police received a tip-off that illegal drugs were being stored in the facility.
One of the suspects was apprehended in the act, he was busy loading three boxes into his vehicle.
“A search was conducted on his vehicle and compressed dagga was found in the three boxes,” said Hani.
“This led the team to search the storage unit where 14 more bales as well as 18 striped bags with compressed dagga valued at about R2m were found and the suspect was arrested.”
The second suspect was found at a nearby garage.
His vehicle was searched and stash of heroin worth over R60,000 were found.
