A Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Okeke Odogwu has been found dead in his car in Anambra State after returning from the regional meeting of his Archdiocese.
Father Odogwu was the Vicar of the Holy Cross Parish, Oroma-Etiti in Anam, and the manager of the Fr. Ohai Memorial Secondary School in the town in Anambra West Local Government Area of the state.
He was reportedly found dead in his car at the entrance gate of the church.
According to a source, the priest attended a regional meeting of his archdiocese on Monday and was said to have participated actively in the meeting.
“He didn’t show any sign of illness before the incident happened. The priest was the manager of the Fr. Ohai Memorial Secondary School located in the Oroma-Etiti area of the state.
“Some liquid substances believed to be his vomit were seen in his car. His corpse was found the following morning in the car, the engine of which was still running”, the source said.
The spokesman for the state police command, Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the development, said the Commissioner of Police, John Abang, had directed the Divisional Police Officer in the area to investigate the incident.
“It seems there was no official report of the incident, but the CP has directed the DPO to find out,” Mohammed stated.
