A lady seeks for advise after her family gave her husband a marriage list worth N580k and are now demanding he contributes N120k for his brother-in-law’s marriage.
According to the story which is now gradually gaining momentum on social media after being shared by a Twitter user, @SmartAtuadi.
The Lady recounts how her husband who earns N70k monthly incurred about N580k expenses based on the list given to him during their wedding.
She said the heavy amount her husband spent made him vow never to help her family members financially, insisting his in-laws have collected all their entitlements from him.
Trouble started when the man’s brother-in-law wanted to marry and was a given a N400k marriage list.
The father-in-law then shared his son’s marriage costs and demanded his son-in-law who earns N70k to contribute N120k to support his wedding.
Infuriated by his father-in-law’s demand, the lady’s husband reminded her of the decision he took never to help his in-laws after they made him spend N580k from the marriage list they gave him when he wanted to marry their daughter.
Angered by her husband’s decision, she called him “irresponsible”. Their home is now on fire as they’re both fighting a cold war.

“I got married 8 months ago, my hubby earns 70k monthly while I am yet to get a job, during our wedding ceremony, hubby spent about 580k on the list given to him for the trad wedding, I persuaded my parents to reduce the list but they said it is a must and a tradition
He was able to raise the money as I wasnt working and I couldn’t help financially. After marriage I suggested that he should be sending something monthly to my parent as he do send to his parent too, but to my surprise the reply he gave me was that he didn’t owe my parent anything…
…that they have collected all they are entitled to from him, initially I was not angry about that until my younger brother wanted to get married and his bride family gave him list of things for the traditional wedding which is amounted to 400k.”
