A policeman who was off-duty was knocked down by a car and one person was shot.
A suspect reportedly approached the vehicle and opened fire, which prompted the driver to speed off and hit the policeman.
This suspected drug-related incident happened in Phoenix, KwaZulu-Natal on Monday morning.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa), three suspects have been arrested and one firearm has been confiscated.
Although details of the incident are not clear at this stage, but Rusa reported that they arrived at the scene after a member of the public informed them about shots being fired in the area.
SAPS and ambulances attended to the injured policeman after he was run over by a car that was shot at by suspects.
It is reported that the suspects approached the vehicle and opened fire, prompting the driver to speed off.
Several 9mm cartridges were recovered at the scene of the incident.
