Long before the independence of Indonesia, there was a unique tribe in South Halmahera, the Lingon tribe. This tribe has a uniqueness when compared with the majority of tribes in Indonesia that is white, big body, blond hair and blue eyes like the Europeans.
Although the origin of the Lingon tribe has not been known until now, there are allegations that the inhabitants of this tribe originated from the European mainland that led to other areas.
The story goes that the Lngon people were in the middle of a boat trip which sank and made them unable to return to their home region. They then settled in Halmahera.
This made them no longer have access to the outside world. The Lingon tribe then became very primitive and eventually embraced animism and dynamism. In fact, this tribe is said to belong to a dangerous tribe.

Because they are considered dangerous, many people around the coast continue to hunt and even kill people from the Lingon tribe.
The tribe also gets threats and disturbance from the Togutil people. People from the Togutil Tribe often try to kidnap the Lingon Tribe girls who are famous for their European beauty.
Until now the existence of this tribe is still mysterious and has never been found. Some say that this tribe is extinct and some still believe that this tribe is still hidden in the forest.
There is also a saying that the Lingon tribe come from the remnants of the Portuguese who hid in the forest long before the independence of Indonesia to survive the war. And some say that this tribe has a mystical power that causes them to have their blue eyes.
Lingon people are tall, white, blond and blue-eyed, although some are somewhat blackish-haired, basically, the Lingon tribe has a physical structure that is different from the people of Southeast Asia.
