The presidency has addressed multiple media reports suggesting that President Muhammadu Buhari was ill, hence his absence at the Federal Executive Council
meeting.
While briefing State House correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council
(FEC) meeting in Aso Rock villa on
Wednesday, the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, rejected media reports suggesting that President Muhammadu
Buhari was ill, hence his absence at the meeting.
Recall that we reported earlier today that the was nowhere to be found during today’s meeting, however, the meeting was being
presided over by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.
Speaking further on Buhari’s absence, the minister said the President was hail and
healthy and ‘carrying out other state functions’ during the FEC meeting.
“Mr President is not ill again”, the minister said, adding that “Mr. President is in town;
Mr. President is attending to other issues. He looked at the agenda for the meeting and decided that the vice president should
preside. It is not unusual for the vice president to preside over FEC meetings”.
He said the fact that Buhari was not at FEC meeting didn’t mean that he was not working.
