ADIDAS has unveiled a dragon-themed match ball for the Champions League knock-out phases.
This year’s final will be played in Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and the sportwear giant will honour the host country.
Scales feature on both the ball and new boots in a striking design inspired by the Celtic nation.
The Champions League restarts tomorrow with Arsenal in action against German giants Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening.
Gareth Bale’s Real Madrid face Napoli at the same time and the Welshman will be desperately hoping his side can get by without him.
The former Tottenham star was back in training yesterday as he aims to reach a second successive final in his hometown.
Manchester City are next up as they host Monaco on February 21, with Leicester travelling to Sevilla the following day.
An adidas statement read: “The adidas team, who travelled to Cardiff as part of the design process, drew inspiration from the power and strength the dragon represents in Celtic mythology – with the dragon print designed to represent the ferocity with which the final stages are played.”
As well as this year’s European showpiece, Welsh fans can also look forward to a film celebrating their run to the semi-finals of Euro 2016.
Don’t Take Me Home – released in March – will show clips of the Dragons’ players and fans on their incredible journey in France.
