King Mswati III, the King of Swaziland, has ordered that from June 2019, men must marry at least two or more wives or they will be locked up.
The king is of the belief that doing this will help women get husbands.
The king, who is married to 15 women and has 25 children, stated that women are more than men in Swaziland which in fact is an issue as the country is full of virgins.
IHarare, reports that men in Swaziland are now required to take more wives so that every woman gets a husband.
In a statement, King Mswati said the men should marry at least five wives promising that the government would pay for the marriage ceremonies and buy houses for them.
“Here’s the deal, marry at least five wives and you’re assured that the government will pay for the marriage ceremonies and buy houses for them” a palace source reveals
King Mswati added that any man who does not comply with this “will face a life sentence”.
