A NEW police robot is now guarding passengers at a major railway stations in china and will help keep commuters safe day and night. The smart bot now going by the nickname Xiao Luoli is the newest resident at the Zhengzhou East Railway Station, in the capital city of Central China’s Henan Province, and is the country’s first police patrol bot. According to its handlers – the Zhengzhou City Public Security Bureau – Xiao Luoli is capable of many things, but most impressive is its abilities to recognise at-large suspects.
he latest in facial recognition software has been installed on the robot, which will wheel itself through the train station hallways both day and night in search of wanted criminals.
Naturally, as a smart bot, passengers will also be able to ask it questions in case they get lost or need to know where the loo is. crucially, however, Xiao Luoli is able to relay information in real time about fires, bomb scares, as well as natural disasters.
This will help alert passengers and evacuate the railway station shortly thereafter.
Whenever Xiao Luoli comes across a wanted criminal, it will be able to identity and – if needed – subdue the individual with a built-in taser, which comes in the form of an extendable electroshock arm.
Members of the public are hoping that Xiao Luoli’s introduction is successful, and more and more dangerous jobs are replaced with robots in the near future.
