The President of the Republic has in his address to the Gonja community disclosed that 5 suspects have been arrested in the 90-year-old woman’s murder case.
Mariam Akua Denteh, mother of 6 and grandparent to 24 grandchildren, was gruesomely murdered by locals of the Kafaba community in the East Gonja Municipality claiming she was a witch.
Akufo-Addo while commissioning a five million cedi water project in the Central Gonja District commended the members of the police force who ensured the arrest of these suspects awaiting trial in court.
He reiterated the fact that such acts mar the image of the country and asked for it to be discontinued.
The President then acknowledged the efforts of the Vice President of the Gonja Traditional Council and his sub-chiefs in ensuring peace in the Gonja municipality.
”We all know how chieftaincy disputes could end up affecting communities and the nation as a whole and I hope they continue to support the government in ensuring peace and sanity in our communities” he said
