How to avoid drama on your wedding day

A wedding is a significant event in every couple’s lives. Marked as a day of promise and togetherness, every single detail about a wedding should be perfect, from the flowers to the taste of the special dessert.

But what’s most unpredictable is family drama on your wedding day. It’s important to pay heed to this aspect to avoid any unnecessary fights or tears.

What’s worse is that everybody’s mood can get dampened by any such drama. To help you tackle such situations beforehand, here are some ways to avoid any sorts of drama on your special day.

1. Consider a slightly smaller wedding
With such a large number of people together, conflicts are bound to arise. A considerable smaller number of guests can not only make a wedding budget-friendly but also keep it away from any worries or drama.

2. Have a proper discussion with your spouse
Make sure you and your fiance are on the same page regarding the wedding preparations. People from all sides present to you different opinions and it gets difficult to hold onto your own opinion. Stick to what you and your partner want for the wedding. But if you both begin to have small fights regarding this, then it may not be possible to avoid drama after all.

3. Talk it out with the most difficult guests
Do you have an uncle who always gets drunk on family occasions or an aunty who strongly criticise everyone’s dance moves? If yes, then you need to have a talk with them. Respectfully let them know that it’s your special day and they shouldn’t resort to their usual fits on such a day. Ask them nicely but be firm while stating your points.

4. Be calm and don’t overreact
The tension is high as there is a lot of hassling around during the wedding day and preparations. It is best to remain calm, composed and practice breathing exercises if you ever feel stressed. At times, when people start arguing over which amenities to hold onto, it can get frustrating. The best option is to not overreact.

5. Set aside a children’s area
Most weddings are incomplete without children. Some create a ruckus, some cry and create a commotion. Mothers may even scold their children and create some unnecessary drama, which admittedly is pretty frustrating. And so, you can create a children’s play area that will keep them occupied and not run around the mandap, breaking and falling over things.
