The NDC is demanding the arrest of the Minister for Special Development Initiatives, Hawa Koomson, for displaying and firing a firearm at a voters registration center.
The Minister who doubles as MP for the Awutu-Senya East Constituency has been heavily criticized for endangering the lives of citizens at a voters registration center at Kasoa by displaying and firing a gun.
According to Hawa, she fired the gun because she felt threatened by a gang of thugs causing a commotion at the center.
Nonetheless, at a news conference in Accra today, the NDC’s Director of Elections, Elvis Afriyie Ankorah, labeled the Minister a gangster and called for her to be arrested for her crime.
While addressing the press, Elvis said, ”This case has been reported to the Kasoa Divisional Police including a video capturing Francis Tetteh, a known NPP thug, hitting our party’s agent’s head with a block. Yet, shockingly, the Police have refused to act on this evidence to date.”
He claimed that Hawa Koomson had brought in 13 gangsters from Bawku in a series of attacks on NDC agents at registration centers in her constituency with her son Ato Koomson at the forefront of the operation.
Elvis added, ”The NDC is totally disgusted by the thuggish and criminal shooting incident involving a gang of NPP thugs led by Hawa Koomson which has received both national and international condemnation.”
According to him, Hawa Koomson’s actions prove she is a gangster and asked for the Kasoa Divisional Police to take the necessary action.
