Eskom has disclosed that load shedding will not be implemented on Friday,
The utility body however urged South Africans to reduce the way at which they consume electricity.
Eskom explained that the reason why there is no load shedding tomorrow is because it managed to repair a faulty conveyor belt at its Medupi power station which failed last night.
The conveyor belt snapped and hindered the ability to generate electricity which led to the implementation of the level 2 load shedding at a short notice last night.
However, the company urge South Africans to use electricity sparingly and could expect load shedding at short notice.
“While no load-shedding is expected this evening and tomorrow, Eskom would like to remind the public that the system remains constrained and vulnerable, and should there be any significant breakdowns, load-shedding may have to be implemented at short notice,” the utility body said.
“Eskom teams are working around the clock to return as many of these generation units to service as possible,” it added.
“We urge the people of South Africa to continue using electricity sparingly in order to assist Eskom to avoid the implementation of load-shedding,” it said.
