The City of Johannesburg is sad with the way corruption is taking its toll within its ranks after city’s investigation unit apprehended an employee at the office of the ombudsman in connection to fraud.
The ombudsman employee is accused of collecting bribes from the residents in Johannesburg.
The City also mentioned that there is a plague of corruption going on in the revenue department which is now pressing onward.
Lucky Sindane, Forensic and Investigation Services Unit spokesperson said:
“We’re so disappointed because this is where people come to report cases when they’ve exhausted all other avenues.”
“It is clear to us that this employee was not working alone because he doesn’t have the capacity to write off people’s deaths, so it is clear to us that he’s working with people at the revenue department and we wanna send out a message to them that we are coming for them.”
The suspect would spend his weekend behind bars until his trial day.
