This afternoon, the US Senate started the impeachment trial of US president Donald Trump based on charges from the House of Representatives that he Abused his office and obstructed Justice by holding off military aid to Ukraine in exchange for an investigation into his political rival, Joe Biden.

The Senate controlled by Trump’s republican party will have a major say in determining how the proceedings go, with many political analysts believing the charges against Trump will be dismissed/discharged.
Trump is being represented by his lawyers while the House of Reps is represented by House Impeachment managers.
