TRESemmé apologises for controversial post
In the midst of the uproar against Clicks, TRESemmé have come out to take responsibility for their advert post which was published on Clicks’ website
Clicks is still trending following the controversial adverts however, TRESemmé has also joined the trend on Twitter.
So many organizations and individuals have taken to their online and offline voice to condemn Clicks’ racist actions after posting an ad that labelled black hair with demeaning words and elevated its white counterparts.
TRESemmé posted on its website that it was sorry for the post made on clicks’ website.
The apology was tagged “TRESemmé South Africa Apology On Recent Images Published On The Clicks Website”
The organization continued with their apology saying:
“We are very sorry that images used in a TRESemmé South Africa marketing campaign on the Clicks website promoted racist stereotypes about hair.”
“The campaign set out to celebrate the beauty of all hair types and the range of solutions that TRESemmé offers, but we got it wrong.”
“The images are not in line with the values of our brand, or of Clicks.”
“TRESemmé South Africa apologises for the offence these images have caused.”
“We also apologise to the Clicks group.”
“We are looking into how this happened and why it wasn’t picked up, and we will take all necessary steps to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
However, South Africans are still not pleased with their actions.
Tresemme says: “We are looking into how this happened and why it wasn’t picked up.”
SA brands are used to not being held accountable. They are used to black consumers just buying & keeping it moving. This has worked for too long that they think empty statements will shut us up
