The super talented Nigerian female singer, Simi is out with the official music video for her recent single tagged “Woman.”
Simi recently sparked a trend on social media with the hashtag #NobodyLikeWoman.
Women from all walks of life have expressed both similar and unique social obstacles, misogyny, and stereotype shaming they encounter as women in this trend.
In the song Woman, she describes her pain as a mother as well as a woman. Simi calls up society’s unfair treatment while seeking a more equitable system in her song Woman, which is about empowering women as much as it is about pointing out the structural restrictions placed on them.
“Woman,” which features a jaunty instrumental and blustery horns, leans on the defiant spirit of afrobeat to reclaim the narrative for women and turns Simi’s long-held socio-political beliefs on equality into a melodic thesis for women’s freedom.
