The COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative effect on all works of life including the Nigerian music industry. Many artistes had to suspend the release of their songs and mostly EPs and album because of the lockdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The coronavirus lockdown has spanned for two months in Nigeria starting from early April to June. Though there is no confirmation as to when the lockdown will end, the goverenment has already relaxed the lockdown partially in some states and is set to reopen churches, mosques, and schools in June.

Oxlade, Terri, Omah Lay, and other fast rising artistes all premiered their debut body of work during this lockdown. Mayorkun, Simi, Mr Eazi and DJ Neptune amongst others gave us one of the most trending songs to kill our boredom while observing the compulsory lockdown.
